Alberta Energy Minister Sonya Savage and federal Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan are scheduled to announce new funding available through the Site Rehabilitation Program at noon. Article content They’ll be joined by Rick Wilson, Alberta Indigenous Relations Minister, Frog Lake First Nation Chief Greg Desjarlais, and Elizabeth Aquin, interim president and CEO of Petroleum Services Association of Canada. The briefing comes after $1 billion of federal funding was announced for Alberta’s oil well cleanup last spring . It’s part of a total $1.7 billion program aimed at work in western Canadian provinces. The program began in May, and was expected to clean up thousands of sites and create 5,300 jobs in an industry suffering from low oil prices combined with the COVID-19 pandemic. More to come…
