New Advancements in Fracture Optimization, Diagnostics, and Its Impact on Well Economics
November 17 @ 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM$55
With increasing complexity and capital cost of developing unconventional reservoirs, it has become common practice for operators to undertake hydraulic fracture optimization prior to initiating field pumping operations. However, one of the biggest challenges that has plagued the industry is a lack of effective and cost-efficient methods to diagnose the efficacy of these fracturing treatments prior to executing their next pad, leading to perpetual cycle of knowledge lagging a full drilling program behind capital spending.
In this presentation a new integrated workflow for hydraulic fracture optimization will be demonstrated, with a focus on the use of physics-based optimization combined with quantitative flowback analysis (FBA) to quickly and effectively diagnose completion efficacy within a few days of opening the well to flow after pumping using typically gathered field data.
As most assets are transitioning to the brownfield development, overcapitalization has become a major factor that can negatively impact the economics of new drills. To address this issue, a set of case studies will be analyzed to demonstrate the benefit of a new integrated workflow and its implication on the long term well economics and reserves; and how a fit for purpose frac design can drive the economics of the wells.
