A Successful Career Transition Story from Two Energy Professionals

Our first speaker, Sahar Gargary, works as a Business & Integration Arch Sr Analyst at Accenture. She holds a BSc degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Business

Intelligence Certificate from SAIT. Prior to becoming a BI Developer, she worked as a petrophysicist. Sahar will tell us about her journey to become a PowerBI Developer and life as a Data Analyst including: skills, tasks, and the process to go through telling a story with data.
Our second speaker, Chelsea Squires, is ATB’s Senior Manager of Data Science and leads a team of 7 who are focused on building enterprise-level machine learning solutions and data monetization strategies. She pivoted into Data & AI after several years as a Exploration Geophysicist in the energy sector. She holds a BSc degree in Physics & Earth Sciences and a MSc in Computational Geophysics from Memorial University, and is currently completing her Masters of Data Science and Analytics at University of Calgary. She will give an overview of the UCalgary MSc Data Science Degree which is a tiered graduate program. Unlike the multitude of virtual programs, this program is in-class, on campus and highly collaborative with other Calgarians. The courses offer a balance between programming experiences in multiple languages, and the graduate-level statistical background required to become a subject-matter expert in the field of data science.
