Norwegian state-controlled energy company Equinor is considering whether to buy UK oilfield assets owned by Canada’s Suncor, sources with knowledge of Equinor’s strategy told Norwegian financial news publication Dagens Naeringsliv (DN). The acquisition, if it happens, could mean new oil investments of around Nkr15 billion ($1.5 billion), DN reported on Friday. That is the suggested price for Suncor’s UK continental shelf assets, DN wrote , citing information in the market. DN previously reported in October that Equinor was considering an acquisition of Chinese state oil company CNOOC Ltd’s UK North Sea operations.
