A new network of right-wing and pro-oil groups are teaming up to promote a conspiracy theory that’s popular on the far-right fringes of the Internet. On January 28, the Canada Strong and Free Network , a think tank formerly known as the Manning Centre , is teaming up with seven other organizations to host a webinar called “Pushing Back the Great Reset.” “This month the World Economic Forum meets to discuss the ‘Great Reset: a joint commitment by government, corporate and stakeholder representatives from around the globe to ‘urgently’ build a new economic and social order,” the Canada Strong and Free Network’s event description reads. “It takes little imagination to grasp the unprecedented social controls, restrictions on freedoms, technocratic rule and government takeover of economic levers that is being proposed.” The event features a few of the oil industry’s longtime favourite speakers , such as National Post columnists Rex Murphy and Peter Foster , along with up and coming voices like Postmedia’s Anthony Furey and Canadian Constitution Foundation Litigation Director Christine Van Geyn .
