January 2021 ended with 154 new wells spud in Canada as compared to 1124 wells spud in January 2020. This is a remarkably depressing performance on the part of Canadian drillers and needs to be analyzed. Whitecap Resources Inc. was the top driller in January 2021 with 23 wells followed by Crescent Point Energy Corp. with 21 wells.
