Reporting to the Director, IT Strategy, Governance & Cybersecurity, the Program Manager, Cybersecurity manages the demand and delivery of AltaGas’ cybersecurity program and associated projects, in line with the agreed corporate and ITS priorities and objectives, while identifying opportunities to further add value to the organization.

Role responsibilities

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops, plans and manages the cybersecurity program, ensuring alignment with the organizational strategy

  • Facilitates the definition of program missions, goals, tasks and resource requirements

  • Assists in identification, assessment and communication of program and project risks

  • Ensures a standardized approach to the management of the programs in line with the AltaGas project delivery methodology and standards, encompassing the governance, alignment, assurance, integration, financial control, and planning, on multiple inter-related initiatives

  • Manages the sourcing, selection and assignment of project managers and associated project staff to the cybersecurity program

  • Manages performance of project managers within the cybersecurity program

  • Drives estimation, planning, organization and monitoring of activities of cross-functional teams while maintaining overall control of schedules, risks and committed deliverables

  • Monitors projects within the program to ensure cybersecurity requirements are met and that business value is preserved

  • Assists in the tracking of the cybersecurity program and project benefits to be realized

  • Ensures accurate forecasting, budgeting and financial management is conducted within each project

  • Responsible for accurate consolidated cybersecurity program reporting (governance and monthly financials), support of client reporting and seeking executive guidance and approvals as necessary

  • Facilitates escalations between business and IT on the cybersecurity program and projects

  • Provides oversight, guidance and remediation for troubled projects in the program and identifies, when possible, the conditions that require remediation to prevent a project from becoming troubled

  • Develops and presents oral and written reports defining plans, problems and resolutions to appropriate levels of management

  • Participates in ITS planning, budget, and strategy definition to incorporate the cybersecurity program needs


  • Highly effective leadership, negotiation and relationship management skills to coordinate programs and projects across business client and ITS groups

  • Able to work at the senior level and with diverse, distributed teams

  • Exceptionally articulate with effective written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Thorough understanding of cybersecurity, and information and operational technologies

  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends in cybersecurity, technology and the business in general

  • Able to apply experience and knowledge to various business issues

  • Ability to understand and communicate complex cybersecurity requirements to technology teams

  • Skilled in analyzing project needs and determining resources required to meet objectives

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in an information technology, business administration and/or project management discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Current certification from a recognized project management institute (e.g. PMP or PRINCE2) would be an asset

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in program management is required

  • Business and cybersecurity solution consulting experience is preferred

  • Demonstrated progressive experience in program management, planning, budgeting, prioritization and risk management, which preferably includes the deployment or implementation of large scale cybersecurity initiatives

  • Experience implementing both cybersecurity infrastructure and software systems would be beneficial
